Meaning

Crunch time refers to the critical, high-pressure moments toward the end of a game when the outcome is still undecided, and every play or decision can have a significant impact on the final result.

Calculation

In our calculations the last six minutes of all matches were considered as crunch time if the gap between the two teams was two goals or less at least once and as log as it’s not garbage time. Analyses by others may choose a different definition for crunch time.

Interpretation

Filtering statistics by crunch time allows to see which teams and players perform the best under pressure when the game is on the line.
