Pscore
Meaning
Estimation for the overall performance of a player. Developed by Francisco P. Romero, Eusebio Angulo, Jesus Serrano-Guerrero and Jose A. Olivas from University of Castilla-La Mancha with the help of 15 expert opinions of handball coaches in 2022. The Pscore was published in 2022 in the article „A fuzzy model to aggregate performance indicators in sports“ in Studies in Computational Intelligence.
Calculation
Pscore =
0.95 ∗ (goals from nine metres and fastbreaks, steals and assists)
+ 0.85 ∗ (positive defensive actions, 7m goals, 6m goals and received 7m)
+ 0.65 ∗ (wing goals and blocked shots)
− 0.80 ∗ (exclusions, missed 7m shots, missed 6m shots, missed fast break shots and uncompleted defensive withdrawals)
− 0.70 ∗ (caused 7m shots and missed 9m shots)
− 0.60 ∗ (missed wing shots, offensive fouls and turnovers)
Interpretation
The higher the value, the better was the player. Players who play in different positions are only comparable to a limited extent.
Since the factors are only to a limited extent based on numbers and several aspects of the game are not tracked at all, the validity is debatable.
