Nicht jeder Wurf ist gleich schwierig. Die Wurfquote aus dem Rückraum ist beispielsweise deutlich niedriger als bei Durchbrüchen. Die Wurfeffizenz kann deshalb bestimmt werden, indem die Expected Goals mit den tatsächlichen Toren verglichen werden.
